Importance of Sending Blessings on the Blessed Prophet

Hadiths on the importance of reward of sending blessings on the Blessed Prophet (pbuh)

“Indeed Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet; O People who believe! Send blessings and abundant salutations upon him.” (Surah al Ahzab, 56)

 

To be close to Him (pbuh) on the Day of Resurrection…

Narrated Ibn Mas’ud:

“The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who send the most blessings on me.” (Tirmidhi, 484)

 

Allah (swt) sends him blessings ten times

Abu Huraira (ra) relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“He who sends blessings on me once, Allah sends him blessings ten times.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi]

 

He is raised by ten degrees

Anas ibn Malik (ra) relates that the Prophet (pbuh) said,

“He who sends blessings on me once Allah sends blessings on him ten times and removes from him ten sins and raises him by ten degrees.”  (al Nasai)

 

Acceptence of Dua is dependant on sending blessings

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattaab

“Dua is suspended between heaven and earth and none of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).” (Tirmidhi)

 

“Your sins will be forgiven”

Ubayy ibn Ka’b said:

I said: O Messenger of Allah, I send blessings upon you a great deal; how much of my prayer (dua) should be for you? He said: “Whatever you wish.”

I said: One quarter? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”

I said: Half? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”

I said: Two thirds? He said: “Whatever you wish, and if you do more it is better for you.”

I said: Should I make all my dua for you? He said: “Then your concerns will be taken care of and your sins will be forgiven.” (Tirmidhi, 2457)

Sending blessings is a means of intercession

Abu al-Darda relates that the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) said,

 “Whoever sends blessings on me ten times in the morning and ten in the evening will have my intercession on judgement day.” [Tabarani]

 

"Invoke blessings upon me abundantly on Friday because…

Narrated Abu al Darda;

"Invoke blessings upon me abundantly on Friday because it is a day that is (particularly) witnessed and the Angels witness it (abundantly). As soon as a person invokes blessings on me his invocation is shown to me until he ends it." Abu al-Darda' (ra) said: "Even after (your) death?" The Prophet (s) replied: "Verily, Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of Prophets." (Ibn Majah)

 

“The miser is the one..

“The miser is the one in whose presence I am mentioned but he does not supplicate for me.” (Tirmidhi)

 

“Your greeting will reach me no matter where you are”

Abu Hurayra narrates;

“Send blessings upon me for your greeting will reach me no matter where you are.” (Abu Dawud)

Another hadith narrated by Abu Hurayra:

“There is not one of you who sends his greetings upon me except that Allah returns the soul to my body (in the grave) and I return his greeting.” (Abu Dawud)
